Daniel is 7 years old and has Cerebral Palsy. This affects every movement he does, making it difficult and sometimes painful. His muscles are very tight and he has a risk of his bones growing in the wrong way. He walks with the aid of a frame. Recently Daniel's parents found out about an operation in America which could permanently reduce both the symptoms and the risks of the Cerebral Palsy.
The bill for just the operation has come to £44,000 – not including living expenses whilst Daniel is in America. Only Daniel’s dad accompanied Daniel so that the family could save as much money as possible. The family have used their savings, family and friends have helped and the rest of the money has been borrowed to get Daniel to America quickly. Now comes the hard bit of paying back the bill with fundraising.
The local community have been amazing in their response and have already helped to raise a great deal of money so far. We are hoping that this joke book will also help to raise more money to pay towards Daniel's medical costs.
All the jokes have been submitted by the pupils at Daniel's school, Hampton Vale Primary School. The illustrators have given their time and considerable talent free of charge and we are especially thankful to Korky Paul who has illustrated the front cover.
